Need for Peer Support Dealing with Family & Social Isolation Coming Back - You're Not Alone Know Your Community Resources Don't Be Afraid to Ask! I experienced a rebirth in my lifestyle waking up from a stroke in the intensive care unit of an incredible hospital and staff at Brigham and Women's in Boston 2014. The journey I embarked on was not done alone. It actually proceeded with intensity spending months in a rehab center and befriending three other stroke victims that for each of us, was life changing. An astute nurse recognized that all three of us had something in common besides having a stroke. She really was instrumental in laying the foundation of what peer interaction was and is about. As stroke peers, we supported each other tirelessly in a seamless transition to ‘get on’ with life in a way that positively impacted our journey of self-motivating and healing. I provide complimentary and customized group health coaching programs allowing their healthcare team to tailor treatment to individuals patient goals, abilities and progress across the continuum of care. With group coaching we focus on bio-individuality, while empowering peers to reach their bio-individuality goals with the circle of life's nutrition, exercise, and sleep. In addition, I provide health & wellness coaching programs for stroke support groups in the communities and their families. With my career as a nurse practitioner after my stroke, I was exposed to the essence of group coaching with students of all ages in primary and secondary schools and those with special needs in school and residential settings. I then took it further and spent more time when I could, with families in my pediatric & adolescent healthcare setting, giving me an opportunity to provide family coaching, which I believe, should be the essence of any pediatric and adolescent health visit. Positive peer pressure and interaction is the basis of all coaching. I am just a small part of this process as a facilitator and guiding mentor. The enlightenment and rewards I have witnessed in group health and wellness coaching is indescribable. I feel honored in these sessions to be even part of the process. Students as young as five years old with or without a history of trauma, conduct satiable curiosity, enate wisdom, and peer acceptance through group health & wellness coaching. There are no age barriers in group health coaching.
